San Francisco based CarWoo! is an online service and marketplace through which dealers are connected with anonymous buyers, extend offers and sell vehicles. Buyers are charged a nominal fee to access this marketplace while access is free to dealers. Buyers receive multiple offers while retaining their privacy and dealers obtain referrals for buyers that fall outside of the traditional automotive lead system.
CarWoo! is unaffiliated with any manufacturer and their predictions are based on a detailed analysis of the trends seen through thousands of recent online offers provided to buyers by CarWoo! dealers across the country. According to Tommy McClung, CEO of CarWoo!, “The CarWoo! marketplace provides a rich source of real-time data about consumer and dealer behavior in the automotive marketplace. Our ability to analyze the data and derive important trends is a real asset to buyers, dealers and manufacturers. CarWoo! will continue to review our real-time data and expose the true state of the marketplace.”
According to their site, “The dynamics of Supply-Demand hold true in the CarWoo! marketplace. During Cash for Clunkers we saw prices trend over invoice because there was so much increased interest in cars during that promotion. If we use our marketplace as a proxy for future consumer demand we can look at the real time interest in cars (currently and ones that should be released in 2011) and use that to predict what will be the top sellers in 2011.”
Based on trends seen in its online marketplace data, CarWoo! predicts that the Toyota Camry will be the best selling car for 2011 (by volume) for buyers shopping online. The Ford Fusion is seen to generate the next most demand among online shoppers. “These results would certainly seem to indicate that Toyota has recovered from any hangover generated by the recalls of 2010,” say Peter Chiu, Vice President of Product Management for CarWoo!. ”Ford also seems to be regaining its stature as a highly respected and innovative US manufacturer.”
In addition to the Toyota Camry and Ford Fusion, the top five also includes the Honda Odyssey, the Honda CR-V and the Nissan Altima.
