If you’re in the market for a new vehicle and interested in “going green” then it looks like Nissan has exactly what you’re looking for. According to PR Newswire, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) has opened up reservations for the Nissan LEAF to the general public, effective May 15th. The LEAF is a new zero emission, all electric vehicle.
On April 20th, Nissan began offering select customers the ability to register for ongoing communications regarding the LEAF via NissanUSA.com. Over 9,500 consumers began placing their reservations during that priority time frame. In December, it will be available to select markets, with increased availability beginning in the spring of 2011. Full market availability will be sometime in 2012.
According to Brian Carolin, senior vice president, sales and marketing, NNA, “after the start of priority reservations, interest in the Nissan LEAF only has continued to grow. Consumers clearly are recognizing the benefits of zero emissions and the value proposition the Nissan LEAF offers.”
An added perk of purchasing the new car is that the new LEAF is fully eligible for the maximum $7,500 federal tax credit as well as multiple other state and local incentives. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (or MSRP) for the 2011 all-electric, zero-emission Nissan LEAF is $32,780, however with the available incentives, you just might be able to get a decent portion of the price tag reduced.
Consumers can make reservations through the NissanUSA.com site and may call the Nissan LEAF call center at 1.877.664.2738 with any questions about the process.
