Wounded Warrior benefit car show, Newport News VA

Saturday 22 May 2010, with a rain date of 5 June, my husband Jim is planning a car show in Newport News, VA to raise money for the Wounded Warrior program. It will be at the Pep Boys on Warwick ave.

As I get more information it will be posted. So far I know Pep Boys will be giving us some stuff to raffle off. If you want to attend, help plan, or donate anything to be given away or to the Wounded Warrior Program, just let me know. Site sponsors maybe? Any donations would be greatly appreciated! My husband had great success holding these events before in Germany, and hope to have better turnouts here in the States.

If we can sell enough raffle tickets to pay for it, we will be raffling an awesome 2-seater Go Kart!! :banana1: I will get pics of it later this week to post. Tickets will be $5 each, or 5 tickets for $20. The go kart sells for $2K, so a $20 or $100 for some chances to win would not be bad at all. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, a raffle for a bucket of car cleaning supplies donated by Pep Boys, and raffles for whatever other products are donated.

I will be there with my '65, Christine! :) It should be another awesome event.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow for the Go Kart. These tickets sold on line will be issued in order from payments received, with the buyer's name put on the tickets here at my place. I will then mail the other half out to the buyers. Just please add 3% to all orders for paypal fees and $1.00 for shipping and envelopes. Thank you!

Thanks erin! The car is ready.. I know this summer we were planning on fixing a couple spots on the stripe that got messed up.. but if that isn't done it won't stop me from going! The other thread that I'm a member of is having on in PA, but I'm just not ready to drive that far yet.

Exactly. My fiance is the one that did the paint. He's not a professional car painter, but he graduated from VCU with a Fine Arts degree and it's something he wants to get into. He's done both of our cars and they've both come out awesome. I'm so excited for the warm weather so we can get back into working on the cars.

Awesome! There's been a couple up in PA for the other forum. Seeing some THIS close to home is amazing. (: I'm from Richmond, btw. Well, about 10 miles east of Richmond. So this really excites me. Lol. :rofl:

Thanks so much :) For all of these events, whatever isn't donated or made from ticket sales comes from mine and my husband pockets, so every little bit helps! We aren't looking to do a ton of trophies, but they are good incentive for people to participate in a great cause!

Also, we're holding a car wash next weekend, Saturday 27 March 2010 to help raise money for the show, so we don't have to come out of pocket for food and supplies. We're planning to hold it from 12-5 that sat. If it rains, we will postpone it a week. Pep Boys is going to donate all Supplies needed for the wash. We would just need to make signs and all. Please help out for a great cause!!!

Sorry gals....we had to move the car wash date again because Pep Boys double booked us. The new date is 24 April, 2010.

Our car wash brought in only 4 customers because of the bad weather...we made about $30 that day. So we are organizing one more car wash before the show, on the 16th this month to try to raise as much as we can to cover the show costs. If you're local or just in the area, please consider dropping by and having your car washed, and to donate to this great cause! :) And the car show is quickly approaching...I've gotta get Christine ready!

Our car wash today was a huge success!! We had tons of cars to wash, and in only 3 1/2 hours, we raised $450! Can't wait till next weekend for the show :)
