Should there be such a thing?

Answer the poll then you can explain your position, etc.

I say no, but that's only because we actually HAVE window tint laws here in Alberta....Can't have the windshield or front two windows tinted AT ALL. The rest don't matter though. I just hate the way it looks with half it tinted and half not lol That's why I have no tint on my car

I think you should be allowed to have it the darkness you want. So what if a cop can see in, he can just pull you over if he thinks something is not right and then he can see inside.

I have 5% all around on the mustang. It is illegal but I like the way it makes the car look and how it keeps it cool during the summer.

I agree with Steph all the way. Stop me if you think something is wrong. The laws pretty much suggest you are going to do something illegal..the only way I could half see the reason is for cops coming up to your window and not being able to see if you are holding a gun ..etc.

And my tint was legal til I moved to TN ...but I am not changing it out because it would look dumb.

This is why there ARE tint laws. Or at least the reasoning behind it. They also can't see if ur wearing ur seat belt, ur kids are restrained, your texting etc.

another thing I don't get - if it's a common goal, why is the % different in every state?:)

I dunno what the % is here.... but then again I could care less honestly. I don't do anything wrong, don't cause no issues and don't get no flack for what I have on the Cobra. Personally I don't think there should be a tint law. It should be common sense to roll the windows down when you get pulled over.. call it common courtesy or sense. It just makes sense to put the Police officer at ease yanno

I agree... and if they don't roll down the window... OPEN FIRE!

My boyfriend was stopped 3 times for tint before he finally took it off (didn't want to pay more tickets), but each time they gave him a different reason for not being able to have tint. First was because they couldn't see if you had a gun to their face. Second was because they couldn't see if you were wearing your seatbelt, and third they said it was b/c if you were in an accident the glass would break in sharp pieces instead of just shattering because the tint would hold it together. I think they need to all get together and decide which one it is lol

Last time I checked, here in MI it was any darkness and coverage on back windows but no lower than 6" from top of the front winshield and front side windows unless you have a prescription.

i dont think there should be either here your not suppose to have it period ..but they just let it slide ....if you do have it the % is like 35 ..Which is the percent of factory tint ( which sucks )

35% in VA... and it is very strictly enforced around here. (35% is nothing, btw, you really can't even tell it is tinted!) I haven't tinted the Mustang because 90% of the time I am driving with the top and windows down anyway, lol!

I actually understand why they exist. We have a tint law here in Kansas. Granted, I think it could stand to be a little darker because mine are as dark as they can legally be and it's very clear to see in my ca (20%)r. The ONLY thing I disagree with is those camo or printed window coverings that people put in trucks. If the dark tint is illegal, then those should be too. You can't see through those at all for your safety. I may not love the law, but I'd rather have lighter tint then law enforcement have a greater risk of losing their lives to some crazy jerk pulling a gun on them.

yeah.. what is up with the camo and flag coverings? thats just not fair. OH wait I could do my back window limo if i wanted. Just the front two have to be 20% I think..

I'm comfortable with our tint law, all my windows are tinted as are the truck windows...I'm just waiting to get the windshield done, maybe before summer next year. I actually thought of putting a custom tint (like those camo ones) on my rear window but mine was more for advertisement than "cool" factor, plus I have backup sensors.

Windshields are the only thing you can't tint here in KS. In MO, they can't have front windows (like on SUV's or 4 doors) done, which I think is really odd.
