Has the state of the economy affected you in regards to activities in the hobby, racing, modifications, etc? If yes, how has it affected you? Do you do anything different, or less now?
Let's get a discussion rolling ..

of course.... less money to buy parts and go to shows. It really sucks.. although in my case I think a lot of it was because of spending it all on the wedding LOL Our next project is the 5.0 though now. CJ wants to get it running and as much as I am jealous, I'm gonna help him out  ( I can't wait to drive it!) shhh

For me... being one of the ONLY lucky ones about the economy.... I'm lucky with the Military. However I guess the lack of pay raises the Military puts out in the long run hurts the ol pocketbook. Mod schedule is still there... its just drawn out over the next 14 years. lol
I do wish it would pick up though for everyone. I know its hard for everyone including us, since Erenz has to deal with the ups and downs. (I'm proud of you sweetheart for sticking with it)

thanks honey :)
for me it hasn't mattered what economy I was in ..lol I've never had the money for the stuff I want for my car. I get it little by little, but it seems like the more you try to save for mods - the more "life" comes at you ..ya know?
with that said - I am blessed and sincerely appreciate what we have, modded or not :p

you get around that by not saving... blowing bill money on a mod you want ... and BAM!!! More money comes your way for the bill after all! works for me...or did :/ haha

It's not the economy that's impacted me not putting any money into my car...it's now living on my own and paying for my house, etc without my ex lol...I hate budgeting!!!!!!

Yes, very much so. I haven't been able to afford insurance, tags, property taxes on my Mustang... I have to keep my DD on the road (and it seems like it ALWAYS needs something done to it... giant money pit *sigh*) so unfortunately, unless business picks up here, it's the way it's gonna be for awhile. I keep THINKING of making the Mustang a primary, but it probably is not the best idea. :(

Last year my Mustang club cancelled their annual meeting because of low registration. Most people blamed the economy. But I have managed to do a few mods on my Mustangs anyways.

I'll jump on the band wagon, The economy is the reason for my suv and not a more fun car. But we'll weather the storm and once the bills are under better control (gone) we'll have a little more money for fun things....on this note, remember the price of plating my vehicles?darn Michigan:mad:

For us, it was moving back to the US and not receiving COLA anymore that's putting us off from doing anything much with the cars at the moment.

Its half and half.. I mean the money coming in hasn't changed that much for people.. its the Cost of Living that has skyrocketed.... Hey Warren!!!

This isn't a poor, woe is me thread. I really wanted to get everyone's perspective. Especially since most of the forums I'm on are slow and have been for a while.

I contemplate selling the old beater and making the 'Stang my only car every day... but up to now I talk myself out of it.

Hey Britt...get your Mustang tuned up for optimum gas mileage and make it your DD. You live in a place where you can get away with that. I had my tuner guy use my SCT to optimize both power and mileage and I routinely get 25-26 MPG on the highway in my GT (which has a Vortech V3 Si-Trim HO blower and was dynoed at 479 RWHP)
You have to enjoy living you know what I mean?

I'm sorry, I don't even know how much it costs to store a car?! Guess I should find out if me and Bart ever have to do that.

I hate to pull the "blame economy" card, but it is true....when people stop spending money it trickles down and the effects are widespread. David's income relies on commission, and people have definitely cut back on how often they get their hair cut, and how much they tip...and that causes us to have to cut back on things too. He's also been trying for over a year now to find a more stable income to no avail. I personally have been lucky in my employment but I've seen the effects all around me for sure.

Oh definitely. The only part that worries me about it is the high mileage. Not the fact that I am scared to rack up miles, I could care less... it's more of a reliability thing, at 140k. But then again, it can't get any less reliable then what I got.
Guess what? 302's are a dime a dozen! LMAO. I have a spare at the house actually, hehe. Y'know what, I say drive it till it blows up... then drive it until that one blows up... and yeah, you get the point. Shoot, there's a lady with a Fairlane... it has over 700k on the body, and she has had 6 or so engines put in the thing! She must really LOVE that car, lol!
