So I'm sure some of you lady's on here with V6's have true dual exhaust on your girls. I'm finnnnnally starting my project on Sally and that is the first thing I want. I was looking at another car forum (3.8mustang) and I have a pretty good idea of what I need to buy and how to do it, but just wondering if anybody has any tips for me. I know I need to get the GT exhaust (from a 94-04), and I'm thinking the Flowmaster mufflers cause I've heard them and LOVE them (way better then Magnaflow IMO). Just wondering about conecting them to the headers....I heard I need an "H" pipe or something...so if anyone knows pllleasse let me know lol. My cars a 95 V6 incase you need that info.
Thanks so much...and sorry if this is a repeated question or in the wrong spot :p

I have a v6 with true duals but I did not do the work myself- I had a shop do them. I have an x pipe setup with flowmasters and I love it. Good luck to ya!

Yes!
You have your headers, or manifolds which are on the engine, your mid pipe (X, H, ProChamber) and that flows into your mufflers!
Good luck with your project!!!!!!

Oh yeah.. there are two bolts per connection. Unless you take it somewhere and get it welded. But the two bolts are fairly easy to get on.. and the only thing about the mid pipe is to make sure you put it on and then jack it up to make sure its not sagging anywhere and tighten it down! Its fairly simple :D

rule of thumb for the midpipes (connection from mufflers to headers)...
H-Pipe's are normally deeper sounding, less HP whereas an X-Pipe gets more raspy, and makes more HP.
IMO an X-Pipe is better on a V6 to give them a more muscle sound.
I've heard Erin's setup in person, and its definatly the nicest sounding v6 i've heard. Not really screamy, got a nice rumble to it

The HP difference between an H pipe and an X pipe is really so minimal that I believe it just depends on what kind of sound you prefer. I HATE raspy exhausts, so I went with the H on my 5.0. It has a deep, almost otherworldly growl. To me, the sound of an X pipe cannot touch that of an H pipe.

Thanks guys. Ya the one I ordered from Flowmaster is made for a 95 V6 so I think it's going to sound awesome. It starts right after the cat and goes to the two mufflers. I talked with the guy and he said if you delete the cat it just sounds like s**t. Which I kinda believe because a friend did that to his car and it just sounds terrible lol The guy says it's just a low rumble when idling and of course gets a lot louder. It's also a really deep sound, not high pitched at all. It also helps that the guy I talked to had the same car, and did the same thing to it lol

As you can see - there are tons of possibilities and there is no one right way to go. You want to check out all the dif setups and how they sound (if at all possible) BEFORE you do it. I've heard all kinds of setups on v6's. I listened to tons of setups the shop had before I let them do mine and for me, the x pipe was definitely the best because I was looking at performance and a nice rumble over a growling sound. In my opinion, the h pipe can create a nice growl on a v6 but at high rpm's it sounds like trash, but again that is my opinion ;)

It might sound of trash on a six, I have no idea. I know it sounds of AWESOME on a eight...

Its just with a 6 having less displacment, they tend to scream at high RPM with an H, and X equals out the exhaust tones to a nice mellow rumble throughout the RPM range.

exactly, and it's different for the v8's! I think both h and x sound great on the v8's.

I have TRUE duals :p x pipe straight off the exhaust manifold. all cats cut off with 40 series flowmaster DUMPS (pipe ends right there at the muffler, angled down for a deep tone :) sounds beautiful!!

heres what mine sounds like. It gets a tad raspy at WOT but not as bad as you may think with NO cats.. and the around town sound is just awesome!
