Boost Mobile Nightshift Powerslides into Landover
Extreme Motorsports Festival Promises Adrenaline-Charged Spectacles and Entertainment
For the first time in Landover’s history, the city will host Boost Mobile’s Nightshift, the country’s largest touring extreme motorsports and lifestyle festival, on Saturday, June 14, at FedEx Field from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. In addition to dazzling displays of highly customized show cars, the one-of-a-kind pop culture experience will feature fast and furious drift exhibitions, stunt bike demos, high flying Freestyle MotoX showcases, max horsepower dyno runs, gorgeous models, along with live music and dance performances. More than 10,000 entertainment and motorsports enthusiasts of all ages are expected to attend.
Revelers will also be treated to unique product displays from title sponsor Boost Mobile, presenting sponsor Valvoline, and additional sponsors including NOS Energy Drink, GM Tuner Source, Pioneer, Envizio, Bridgestone, and National Guard.
Action packed attractions will include the HIN Drift Demos, where professional drift drivers will demonstrate absolute car control by performing amazing high speed drift maneuvers popularized by films such as “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” and “Initial D”. Exceeding 200,000 square feet, the drift area will be the largest ever in Nightshift’s history.
The Boost Mobile FreestyleMX.com tour will showcase some of the nation’s best Freestyle Motocross riders performing death-defying tricks, while renowned stunt riders will treat audiences to the awe-inspiring art of freestyle street bike stunts.
Nightshift Landover will boast an impressive collection of masterfully modified cars such as The Army National Guard “Citizen Soldier” 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe, designed by Sergeant Nicholas Ashby in tribute to U.S. solders serving in Iraq, and the sleek Bridgestone BMW wide body Z4 M Coupe by Canepa Design. More than 300 tricked out vehicles totaling over $15 million in value will be shown, ranging from Japanese to Euro and from high-end luxury to wild and exotic, and boasting the latest in aftermarket trends, tech gadgets and tuned performance.
Valvoline will be debuting its special edition ROUSH® Ford Mustang GT-V, borne from a rare and historic collaborative design effort between Jack Roush, NASCAR legend and renowned designer of the ROUSH series of Ford Mustangs and F-150s, and RJ de Vera, a veteran of the import/sport compact scene who has styled lead vehicles for the film “The Fast and the Furious”. The car will be awarded to a lucky finalist of the “2008 Valvoline Challenge Quiz” at the end of year. RJ de Vera will be on hand at the event for interviews.
DC’s own Hip Hop artist Wale (pronounced WAH-LAY), who has performed alongside The Roots, Mark Ronson (producer for Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen) and Jay-Z, will entertain the crowd with his fresh sound, dazzling wordplay, and boundless onstage energy. With well over two million plays on MySpace, the 23-year old Wale is an organic hip hop and lifestyle phenomenon. The event will mark his last concert before he begins the Rock the Bells Tour with esteemed artists such as A Tribe Called Quest, NAS, Mos Def, De La Soul, just to name a few.
A Nightshift event would not be complete without its signature lineup of the most alluring models in the automotive industry. Miss Maxim 2007 Erin McKinnon, who received the most votes as the top Maxim “Hometown Hottie” in the magazine’s online contest, will be available for autographs and photos at Model Central, along with a bevy of other beauties straight from the pages of Super Street, Import Tuner, and DSport magazines.
FedEx Field is located at 1600 FedEx Way, Landover, MD 20785. The event will take place in Lot G. General admission ticket price is $25.00. Advanced online ticket purchase available via www.nightshiftevents.com (http://www.nightshiftevents.com/). The event is open to attendees of all ages.
